Glennymo, I would think the amount reserved is only for one year - unlike the reserves Nokia made for the 2G settlement which were for a multi year settlement.
If so, maybe we only need $200m (or about half the provision) for 2009 ;)
I will bet you that Nokia settles for between 500 million and 700 million, with a possible chip deal thrown in to keep the settlement a little to the lowest side of my projection so they save money and get a great chip paying royalties on the chip, which would make IDCC look like the investement in the slimchip as a bonanaza.
