W2P: yes, good ideas. I realize that DNAP is (based on Gabriel's comments) a bit short on workers and money.
However, they can be a bit more receptive about new ideas, especially when these can bring in extra $$.
If they are developing these eye/hair, etc tests for forensics, why not also market them to consumers?
The question is though whether DNAP can test for homozygousity vs. heterozygousity in these genes, or just can determine the actual eye color.
I would think they can determine the actual genetic profile, but who knows?
Actually this brings up another question I have, do they look at the SNPs from both sets of chromosomes?
If "Joe" has an EA SNP on his paternal chrom. and a IE SNP on the maternal, which one is measured?
Of course, looking at dozens of markers, it all evens out in the end - it really won't alter the final result.
I'm just curious.
