#3822 RE: Bird of Prey #3818

You assume far too much.

At the time we were grandfathered certain statements were made concerning the future "benefits". It appears that since Bob assumed control some of that has gone by the wayside.

What "benefits" and when/where have any of them gone by the wayside?

Though nothing specific was detailed, at the very least it was expected that Bob would deduct the amount already contributed from the price of a lifetime membership. Alas, there has been no word from management of this topic.

There has been no need of "word from management" on the topic. As far as the software is concerned, there is no distinction between Grandfathered and Subscriber. I suggested one scenario in which that might change, and threw it out there as but one of a number of conditions/scenarios, but was quickly shot down on it. Aside from that suggestion, what other distinctions between Grandfathered and Subscriber exist that has you so upset? None. Nada. Zilch.

In my recollection I did so almost a year ago.

September 5, 2001, actually.

Yet despite "assurances" from Bob that grandfathered members "who had already financially supported IH" would be treated differently when the subscription system was in place.

Can't figure out what this one means. And where's the quote from? Who're you quoting?

Coupled with Bob's obvious disdain for my (and others) presence here at IH as evidenced by his own words and Matt's failure to properly administrate the site since Bob's takeover...the burr under my saddle is I'm feeling "taken" in more ways than one.

My disdain for you is because of the burr under your saddle. The burr under your saddle is because of my disdain for you. Infinite loop. And I'm sure we don't agree which came first. My "own words" to that effect where, ummmm, yesterday? Day before?

Many of the folks I enjoyed reading and exchanging with have departed or curtailed their activity here since Bob announced he was back and "in charge". They have been replaced by persons I'd prefer never to have heard of.

I don't believe the first sentence and I find the latter very offensive.

There's always an invisible mass of people who bailed out of a site when something that displeases someone occurred. Heard it many times. The only time it's really happened is when the penny touts and cheerleaders left SI for the more fertile pastures of RB.

Do I believe that as a human being I deserve respect and equal consideration as an upstanding, contributing member of this site?

I've recently handled you with kid gloves because I know your type, have plenty of experience with you, and know that if I don't, you're going to feel mistreated. You finally got under my skin good recently. Excuse the hell outta me for being human, eh.

Give respect and you're more likely to get it in return.

As for contributing, the majority of the "contributing" I've seen from you for quite some time has been to snipe and grouse about whatever perceived wrongs you see. Oh, and some you don't see but you're sure exist.

Never "That's a userful new feature" or anything like that. Just "Bob has ruined the site and continues to do so." "The good people left once Bob came back." "Matt is an incompetent admin." (all paraphrased)

Tell me that wouldn't get under your skin after a while.

I don't know if Matt "made a mistake" in an earlier situation in which you were involved, and really don't care. He's the Admin and that's that. He will make mistakes. Every single thing he does will be a mistake. To somebody. It's the nature of the beast. Some will be perceived mistakes and some will be along the lines of "that's the worst course of action that could've been taken". I was still making those after 3 years on the job. Pardon him for being human, too.

And as long as management refuse to treat me with that level of respect I will treat them with an equivalent level of disrespect.

IMO, you "drew first blood" in the disrespect war. By a long shot. You ascribe the same level of disrespect now toward us after we finally got fed up and returned some of the same.

I will point out every flaw and mistake and cheat I can ferret out. I will hold them accountable for these things publicly whether they like it or not

And I'm sure you can't see or don't care how that would come across as just being mean, petty, and disrespectful.

that managements reason for this is because "I" was in favor of it so they shot it down.

Bullshit!

When did I say this? A day or two ago. It wasn't cited as "the reason" it was shot down. That idea got shot down long ago and after much discussion involving many members of the community.

That I recently publicly stated how your displeasure over it gave me pleasure doesn't alter the facts or the calendar.

I am angered because I am "looked down on" as a "grandfathered" member even though I paid long ago.

Only in your own mind. Where have you ever seen evidence of me or Matt feeling this way?

If Bob or Matt or anyone else thinks I am foolish enough to pay MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE for a lifetime membership

Again, where have you seen evidence of this? You assume far too much and are quick to anger over it.
