China Unicom Unveils New 3G Bidders

China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. (NYSE: CHU, SEHK: 0762, and SHSE: 600050), formerly known as China Unicom Ltd., announces a new list of WCDMA equipment suppliers for its 3G telecommunications network across China.
They are Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., ZTE Corporation (SZSE: 000063 and SEHK: 0763), Alcatel Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd., Ericsson (China) Co., Ltd., Nokia Siemens Networks, Motorola Incorporation, FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies Co., Ltd., and Guangzhou New Postcom Equipment Co., Ltd.

The 3G cake of China Unicom includes 77,272 base stations in total this time. Huawei captures 23,645 of them, Ericsson and its partners 20,527, ZTE 16,544, Nokia Siemens 8,659, and Alcatel Shanghai Bell 7,897. Huawei takes a 30.6% share of the cake, ranking first, Ericsson 26.5%, ZTE 21.5%, Nokia Siemens around 11.1%, and Alcatel Shanghai Bell around 10.2%.

China Unicom now is one of the nation's top three regrouped telecoms giants

Revlis, I was told Carpenter went from buy to neutral on IDCC.

Percentage wise I guess he figures the stock has done really well since the Samsung news and probably figures Nokia wont settle right away.

revlis: Some more information on the LTE base station infrastructure market. I believe NEC (through Mobisphere) is still working) with NokiaSiemens.
