The most popular ones are Drive Image and Norton Ghost. The one getting the best reviews I have read is Acronis True Image. I have been looking at them myself but haven't bit the bullet yet.

Yes, those programs make life easier.
Which one?.. I’ve used earlier versions of some below:

Acronis’s Migrate Easy will do what you want…

But consider a more powerful program that can also be used to backup your drive(s) in case of a future HD crash.

I believe, but don’t know for sure, that Drive Image does the same as True Image as far as transferring the OS to a new drive. It does work for backups.

There is another type of program that manages drive partitions (create, resize, move, etc.). You probably won’t need them now. Just make sure that you make your new partition(s) large enough when you create them with the ‘migration’ program.

P.S.
Programs like this can have built in obsolescence… Hard Disk size limitations.

I know I am coming to the party late! A lot of the replacement hard drives come with software to copy the old hard drive to the new drive.
