brwtrpilot says: "Could it just be that the guys that run this company really don't give a rip about the investment side of this."

Ahem, umh...err...ahhh...small point here, but when you choose to be a public company, and when you choose to sell shares of your company to the general public, you have a legal obligation to give a "rip" about the investment side....sorry...small point...

Recommend you google the terms, "fiduciary responsibility"

President Lee Myung-bak suggested Monday (Nov. 17, Brazil time) that Korea and Brazil should form close cooperation and corporate investments in three areas by merging six related industries -- mineral development and plant construction industry, oil development and shipbuilding, automobile and the green industry.

Stressing the high potential of creating the synergy effect that Korea and Brazil could generate, President Lee made the suggestion at a lunch meeting with Korean and Brazilian businesspeople in Sao Paulo, during his official visit to Brazil after attending the G20 summit in Washington D.C.

President Lee also said that the two countries will be able to cooperate more closely in future-oriented, high-tech industries rather than conventional industries, since merging various technologies with related industries is the key to generating international competitiveness in the 21st century.

Regarding the idea of building the three forms of suggested cooperation, President Lee suggested that the two countries should expand cooperation projects by merging Brazil's vast mineral resources and Korea's electricity, steel and petrochemical industries, Brazil's deep-sea oil field and Korea's high-tech shipbuilding sector, Brazil's world-leading bio-fuel technology and Korea's drive to develop next generation environmentally friendly vehicles and low carbon green growth policy.

President Lee expressed hopes the two countries will continue to expand cooperation projects involving mineral development, power generation and petrochemical industries in the future, saying Brazil has vast amount of mineral resources, including iron ore and uranium, and Korea's electricity, steel and petrochemical industries have strong global competitiveness backed by advanced technology and know-how.

Brazil emerged as one of top ten oil countries in the world thanks to the recent discoveries of large-sized deep-sea oil fields, and has advanced deep-sea oil field exploration technology. Meanwhile, Korea is the number one shipbuilder in the world, with world-best technology in building oil exploration ships and prospecting ships, President Lee said.

Lee also suggested that Korea and Brazil should build a cooperation structure to merge bio-fuel, automobile manufacturing and the green industry. Brazil has supported its bio-ethanol industry in order to develop renewable energy since the 1970s and has now become the leader of bio-fuel technology. Korea is the fifth largest automobile producer in the world and has been actively taking part in developing the next generation of environmentally friendly cars. The development of fuel flexible cars, especially for using Brazil-made bio-ethanol, can be a hopeful area where Korea and Brazil can expand cooperation.

To promote substantial mergers and investment, the two countries will establish a Korea-Brazil industrial cooperation committee, which can support both Korean and Brazilian firms to enter their counterpart's markets, build Korea-Brazil industrial cooperation center and form an industrial cooperation fund between the two countries, President Lee said.

President Lee emphasized that the bilateral relationship should be upgraded into a “strategic partnership” and urged businesspeople from the two countries to do their utmost to overcome the current economic slowdown and make efforts to improve the economy. Lee also suggested that the two countries should accelerate the launch of free trade agreement negotiations between Korea and MERCOSUR, the South American trade bloc comprising Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil.
