This No Parking sign was on the ground following the accident Thursday. (CBC)Regina police have identified a man who died after a street sign that was hit by a vehicle fell on him while he used a downtown sidewalk.
Murray Scott Hill, 48, of Kerrobert, Sask., died of his injuries Thursday after being struck by a No Parking sign near the corner of Rose Street and Victoria Avenue.
It happened after a vehicle turning north at the intersection hit the post with the sign attached.
Although the SUV didn't hit Hill, the sign fell on him, cutting him badly. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It's believed he and his wife were in town for a Christmas party. People at the scene said he had been a guest at the hotel and was going to get his car when he was struck.
There's no word yet on whether charges will be laid against the driver. The incident remains under investigation, according to a police spokesperson.
