Ispro: Before jumping to conclusions on McAfee...

All the new PC technologies hitting the market are going to leverage the TPM: NAC lying endpoint control, secure boot-up for virtualisation, certificate based authentication, etc.

McAfee, SECUDE, and others that offer an interface to the hardware based FDE drives DO NOT OFFER, nor do they have the capability to manage TPMs.

As this week progresses I think we'll see that all the FDEs to be announced will be interchangeable (plug'n plaÿ) within Wave's offering. All this in addition to TPM management.

Ispro, here is what I learned from someone that would know. The release is totally misleading. Dell does not have any relationship with McAfee for FDE drives and the only software they are shipping for this is Wave’s. The announcement is three separate things, which are not related, but have been apparently connected based on the poor way that Seagate worded their release. McAfee is supporting Seagate FDE drives…period, just like WinMagic, Secude and others. Dell is shipping Seagate FDE drives (only with Wave software). Papa Gino’s is a great Wave customer, not a McAfee customer. Seagate is being requested to publish a correction to the story.
