Try this:

Go to Start and right click on My Computer and click Properties. Then click on device manager and click on Modems.

Right click on your modem and left click on uninstall.

Restart your computer and when XP finds the modem and wants to install it, click on Have Disk and insert your modem software disk.

Install it using the software and it should run fine.
