That article is looking in the rear view mirror. It presents what was the situation BEFORE Dell put Control Point on their machines. Now it's a matter of clicking some available buttons instead of delving into parts of the OS that nobody wants to go.

Hardly anybody knew any number of things six months ago that everybody knows now. Nobody wants change until change becomes conventional wisdom. TPMs are becoming conventional wisdom even as articles reflect the past difficulties of working with them.

BTW, it took five business days for my new Dell to arrive. Ordered it last Monday got it this Monday. Expect to turn on the TPM and fingerprint reader by the end of the weekend. Expect few problems and I hate dealing with hardware.

I do believe that we are about at the financial tipping point with revenue from licensing covering burn and the question remains how fast Encrypted Drives, NAC, and DoD requirements will push the upgrade needs forward from here on out. The very early adopters have us at the base of a rather steep curve. No reason not to be optimistic after all the curves thrown at us already. The history of computing is the history of making what was hard for non-technical folks easier with each new generation of users. This machine found my home network all by itself.
