EDITED: Sorry, not following your train of thought - Apple's $999 offering doesn't have anything close to a T9600.

Just looked on the Apple Store - cheapest laptop with T9600 is $2800.

The processor may be weaker in comparison, but the 9600 GPU makes up for it. Even when you add the $550 processor upgrade, still half the price.

I think the new Macbook's are nice. But the screen size gives me eye strain, so I need a 15 inch screen min, but not going to pay $2000 for one.
