Great article. Yes. We are now very much a socialist country. Who would have believed it would have become policy under a Republican Adminstration? I always referred to Bush as a "neo-trotskyite" Now maybe people will understand why I coined him as such 7 years ago. I saw this coming.
The actions in the past few weeks have totally swamped those undertaken during Roosevelt's administration. No longer can a Republican refer to Roosevelt as "that commie" or "that socialist" with a straight face. I listened to that kind of thing my entire life.
This time, socialism was adopted to salvage problems created by deregulation. Perhaps now people will understand why you can not have unfettered and unregulated capitalism. Left unabated, capitalism will progress to the point that it devours everything and everyone. It must be allowed to grow and then be trimmed back, over and over again. Otherwise it will consume everything, just as it has done here.
