I tend to agree. Coming into the AMD world, the names are confusing. Pentium 1, 2, 3 and 4 are a lot simpler. Of course Pentium M throws in a spanner. Celeron is know as cheap and slow so that's well known.
I agree. AMD has invested years in building the Duron brand. It makes absolutely no sense to toss away all that goodwill that they paid for with previous marketing dollars.
Maybe AMD's marketing director should go back to school to take marketing 101 again.
Besides, Sempron sounds too much like simpering, not a good association.
Thanks for saying what probably many of us were thinking. I agree that this is a dumb move. For better or worse, Duron does have recognition value. If AMD wants to refresh it then call it Duron64 or something like that.
