A couple of times I have written down the times that the trades passed me up, called the broker, bitched and had my orders filled even though the bid/ask was now much higher. If one dosn't complain they will take all they can.

Joe,

Generally speaking the public sells to the MM's at the bid, so that is probably the trades at .101 you are seeing. Then the MM's turn around and sell to the public at the ask, thus making a profit on the spread. You many not get filled at .105 unless the ask drops to there, and then there is no guarantee. There could be others in line ahead of you, and if not the MM's can post an offer of shares at that price but still not fill any orders.
