The Senate Bail-Out Vote is moments away, so says TV.

Senate put some goodies in this Fix-it Bill (Bailing) to support Alternative Energy.

It will be interesting to see what.

SOME GENERAL MARKET COMMENTS, MORE LATER ON

Today Markets are Trying to Hold On, some did not, some did.
Declines did Out-Number Advances.

There were Only a Few MajorMoves Up or Dn.
** Only Two General Market Indices had Major Moves, MidCap and SmallCap Indices, both were Dn 1%.
** Bank Index was Up 6%; SLV was Up 4%;
** OSX was Dn 4%, and SOX, IYR, OIX, TYX,TNX were Dn 1%.
** Gold was Dn 9 (1%) closing at $871; Silver Up 0.29 (2%) closing at 12.56
** November Crude Oil closed Dn 2.11 (2%) at 98.53 Http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12400801

Four of Nine Major Sectors made MajorMoves these were spread from Dn 2% for Industrials, Dn 1% for Materials, to Up over 1% for Consumer Staples, to Up over 3% for Financials.

No Major Moves in US Dollar:
The USDollar was Up 0.13 to 79.64, approximately 0.60 points off its recent High

There were some Indices near Flat or Flat I looked for MCO smallchg Alert...
At Close, it was "Close" in Both MCO for Nasdaq and NYSE, in HorseShoes they would be called "Leaners" not "Ringers", It was that "Close". However, I am calling an Alert because Technically we are very close to Both Signals, and the Psychology tonight and tomorrow is enough to tip the Analytical Scales.

Alert: There will be MajorMoves in nearly All General Market Indices Friday or Monday. Unless there is a MCO smallchange signal Friday. This signal does not give the MM Direction.

Volatility Indicators: VIX and VXO were Up over 1%
Today each closed at VIX 34, VXO 45, and VXN . Monday, Each closed at new Highs for 2008, VIX over 46, VXO at 51, VXN at 49. These Monday figures were in Turning Point Areas for Volatility Indicators. However Volatility Indicators have been known to go as High as 100 before the General Market Indices actually turned Up.

$INDU closed at 10,831 Dn 19 (near flat)

Nasdaq closed at 2069 Dn 12 (0.6%), Nasdaq 100 closed at 1563 Dn 30 (2%)
.

.
$SPX closed at 1161 Dn 3 (0.3%),

Below are Daily charts for $SPX and SPY, followed by 60 min charts.

$SPX Trends and Cycles Chart

Today, $SPX change very little being Dn 3, it is therefore in same position as yesterday, at the Resistance underneath the Blue Dashed DownTrendLine from the Jan 2008 Bottom.

Regard McClellan Oscillators and Summation Charts
(These tell us about Advances/Declines) (Sometimes they give Alerts for coming MajorMoves in Indices) (Sometimes they tell us if we are entering Turning Areas for General Indices):

(1) The Oscillators, reflecting many more Declines than Advances, moving more Ssorth in Negative Territories. NYMO closed Dn 5.8 to -13. NAMO closed Dn 5.8 to -30. Each very close to Analytical MCO smallchanges.

I am calling an Alert because Technically we are very close to Both Signals, and the Psychology tonight and tomorrow is enough to tip the Analytical Scales.

Alert: There will be MajorMoves in nearly All General Market Indices Friday or Monday. Unless there is a MCO smallchange signal Friday. This signal does not give the MM Direction.

Shown below is the Daily charts with their Smallchanges Circled.

(2) The Summations, NYSI and NASI, each got worse. Because as calculated the Oscillators, which were Positive are added to their already deep Negative positions. Shown below are Weekly charts.

MORE GENERAL MARKET COMMENTS

Today, Wednesday, October 01,

Alert: There will be MajorMoves in nearly All General Market Indices Friday or Monday. Unless there is a MCO smallchange signal Friday. This signal does not give the MM Direction.

As I have said before, besides the BailOut action, more will be required. Such as Fed Rate Cuts. And Foreclosure or Pre-Foreclosure assistance.

This timeframe is still very risky. Be very Slippery if you are Trading this month.

Note we have not seen the major losses from the Stock Earnings coming soon, and by the Mutual Funds many of whom will be Closing their management YE.

At the very end of this Post are the Weekly charts showning the Potential Bottom Areas. These are based on the Peaks and Troughs since 2000, there are charts for many Indices. I suggest you at least be aware of what might happen.

Included Today is Must Read 10/01 Presentation by Bill McLaren with provocative charts and Analysis, involving possible bottoms. (Posted by our George Tsourdinis)

Education: More on Sector Trading. My Trading Platform as do many Trading Platforms has "Sectors and Stocks in a Tree Structure". Many times during the day I go there, See Sectors, it shows me the % Gains or % Losses of each Sector. I click on the Sector I am interested in, it then shows me the stocks in that Sector, I can see each of their Tickers and again their % gain or % loss. I can then pick which Stock I am interested in. And so on.

Sector Trading is Good, starting point.
