#80380 RE: Linchuck #80377

I'm not impressed with your arguement. You want to know why?

The mets have a better record, they have scored more runs, their Sp is better, they have committed less errors so their defense is better, their manager is better, the Mets have also beat them head to head (10-6) so far. Keep in mind these stats were once upon a time heavily in favor of the phillies and the gap continues to close. My guess is the Mets have a bigger differential when the season is over.

Did you think I was done yet? Someone told me this last year with the mets how they were playing their last 70-80 games that stats rang true at the end of the season. As the Mets were tracked down by the phillies. So now I will use this stat in my favor.

Since Jerry Manuel has become the manager of the Mets. Seems like a good starting point.

Mets 45-27
Phillies 35-34

Forget the Mets good play for a second. In the Last 69 games the Phillies are 1 game over .500. Yes just 1 game. I continue to shake my head why someone that is not a phillies fan is blinded by this data. The only think the phillies have going for them is a substancially better bullpen, because the mets have all of the following.

1) Better Defense
2) Better Hitting
3) Beat them Head 2 Head
4) Vastly Better starting pitcher
5) Better Manager
6) Hotter team over the last 70 or so games, and when I mean hotter it is not even close.
7) Run differential has been closing all season the phillies were way ahead of the mets at one point, as I said this is a different team with Manuel as the Manager. So the phillies are going to need 92-94 victories to win this division, not the 89 or so they needed last year, my guess is they get around 88-90. Just my opinion.

---All above is just my humble opinion.
And I could always be wrong.
And as always do your own DD.---
