lj- ya Hanna is first and intensifying close to hurricane strength now, albeit rather slowly. And latest loop on Hurricane board here shows to me shear and lack of deep convection lately may keep it TS for awhile even though it is close to hurricane strength. That central pressure needs to drop a bit more.

As for Ike, still looks like a small 'cane to me. It needs a larger moist air environ to get bigger IMO but the higher SSTs as it heads west should be able to inflate it some. That central pressure should support it staying together fairly well when the shear hits it next couple days, even with its small size. The symmetry on it has been awesome without an EWRPC yet that I've seen. Usually storms have their eyes collapse and redevelop but I don't think I've seen Ike do that yet. Keeps the little bugger in the mighty might healthy Cat 4 status.
Tough to figure the track for Ike with Hanna around, a trough interacting with Hanna, then possible Ike, Ike's higher shear environ coming up, potential growth in size as it hits warmer waters, etc, etc... No wonder the experts still have such a hard time figruing these things out LOL.

As for staying dry, I just experienced one of the more intense thunderstorms of my life. Probably could have counted 200+ lightning flashes during the roughly 1 hour period. Some with flash and sound almost simultaneous (unable to start counting). Man, sounds like someone shooting right next to your ear!
