re 'ritual' foot baths..

Older than Mohammad

"He rises from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. 5 After that he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. 6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter said unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? 7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou know not now; but thou shall know hereafter. "I have the impression, as many others do, that it's now politically correct to attack any faith but Islam. When the ACLU says that a Muslim's special concessions for prayer is "murky" yet a "crucifix" is not legal in a public school, I'm scared."

its not that murky for me...neither symbols belong in public venues...

religion will always be with us.. its the fundamentalist that cause me the most concern... and the pandering by the politicians...

i wish public schools taught civics, history and geography still.. i hear they dont.. in fact i hear that getting kids to be able to read at grade level is quite a chore... i dont understand that.. the school system worked when i was in public schools in the 60s and 70s... what happened? even the school lunches were tastey and wholesome...
