I beleive they knew who the winner was on time. IMO when they made the announcement they did not take into account the significance of this particular friday and it became clear to them that they had made an error. A lot of traders leave wall street early this particular friday for one last hurrah in the hamptons before thier summer rentals end(usually labor day) and before those that own close up for the winter. For those that don't live in NYC or LI(Long Island) you should have seen the Long Island expressway last night. I could have stopped and barbecued on it.
The company made the right decision not putting out the news this weekend. Not many will be focusing on stocks this weekend. They will be out doing stuff with family and friends. Most will be too drunk or hung over to do anything much less look at BCND. LOL. The PPS held up just fine without the news. A Tuesday PR will have far greater effect than any PR put out on the friday before labor day weekend.
