How many of those financial companies had issuances of stock in the windows that short selling restrictions were in place? I think that there was a colluded effort to make a market to raise capital to offset losses.
After all what became of the short selling restrictions? what did the SEC learn? what news of policy that will result from this study in limited naked short selling?
There is another half to 1 trillion in losses that need to be written off based on current foreclosures and asset prices. if housing continues to deteriorate then that number will balloon up near 2 trillion in total losses and will lead this correction deep into 2009 maybe early 2010.
