Which Bar Association regulation, specifically, mandates that a Law firm is required to serve the public to benefit society?

I thought law firms were private companies that served private clients. If they are good at what they do, they will get more clients, if they are bad at what they do, they will go out of business. When did they become a social services organization?

It is not a matter of "getting out of a contract" It is about paying your debt to someone who did work for you. It is becoming a common thing for this company isn't it? How many people has this company stiffed for $? The list is getting pretty big isnt it?
