Funny you should ask that. That's what most assume, but frankly, I have rarely seen a serious short squeeze come from shorts covering before that date given through sites like short squeeze.com, unless that cover date coincides with big news
Generally what seems to happen is that the shorts work overtime close to that cover date to get the stock as low as possible, so they cover cheap
But you never know..meteor strikes and blue moons do happen, although rare...lol
