rab120 - I do believe that you cannot trust the Gov. figures. They have a vested interest in twisting the figures and there is no one to investigate them. They also can change the rules by which they arrive at their numbers and they have many times in the past. Hence the constant revisions. The first announcement is on the front page and the revision is hidden on page 16. LOL
My opinion of the big boyz has not changed at all. There is someone to investigate them.

From The Conference Board:

http://www.conference-board.org/

“U.S. institutional investors — defined as pension funds, investment companies, insurance companies, banks and foundations …”

“Institutional ownership of the largest 1,000 U.S. corporations has increased from 61.4% in 2000 to a peak of 69.4% in 2004, and dropped just slightly to 67.9% in 2005 …”

Market manipulation requires a huge volume of manipulators going in the same direction in order to overcome the rest of the market. To get half the market to agree on anything requires getting all the various institutional investors to agree on a single plan. I’ll bet there’s a lot of leftovers at the snack bar at that get-together! And go figure … most of them don’t even beat the market.

While doing all their manipulations and incantations, I wonder why they conjured up such a lousy market?

Good luck on the manipulation and conspiracy theories.
