1.0 Overview This document describes the basic steps to setup, build, and install the IBM VisualAge* Micro Edition R1.4, J9* virtual machine run times, and applications on the SA-1110 Development Platform. The document provides step-by-step instructions to get Java applications up-and-running in a short period of time.
NOTE: The term SA-1110 Development Platform refers to using the Intel® StrongARM* SA-1110 Development Board (Assabet) with the Intel® StrongARM* SA-1111 Development Module (Neponset).

The IBM VisualAge Micro Edition R.4 is a complete development tools chain for Java application development for client platforms that range from headless (no LCD nor keyboard) to full graphical user interfaces. This application note shows examples of a console and graphical Java application and provides the information on how to integrate into a headless and non-headless image. This document is based on the use of a QNX* real-time operating system.
