RUNNING IBM* VISUALAGE* MICRO EDITION

1.0 Overview
This document describes the basic steps to setup, build, and install the IBM VisualAge* Micro Edition R1.4, J9* virtual machine run times, and applications on the SA-1110 Development Platform. The document provides step-by-step instructions to get Java applications up-and-running in a short period of time.

NOTE:
The term SA-1110 Development Platform refers to using the Intel® StrongARM* SA-1110 Development Board (Assabet) with the Intel® StrongARM* SA-1111 Development Module (Neponset).

1.1 Introduction
Telematic clients range in features and functionality. Applications have either graphical content or voice controls. The IBM VisualAge Micro Edition R.4 is a complete development tools chain for Java application development for client platforms that range from headless (no LCD nor keyboard)
to full graphical user interfaces.
This application note shows examples of a console and graphical Java application and provides the information on how to integrate into a headless and non-headless image. This document is based on the use of a QNX* real-time operating system.
