Make the song your own... doesn't necessarily mean to completely change the song.
Archuletta made those songs his own with pure emotion...no one could have done better.
Didn't Simon tell Cook he should have repeated his version of 'Billy Jean' ?
Dunno if you noticed, but Archuletta got a much louder audience reaction all during the program than Cook did.
Archuletta wins the contest, Cook wins in the long run.
