The future and existing plans of all the Mass Retailers is to reduce packaging and waste of the products they sell. Reducing packaging is less waste and they can fit more on the shelf. The more "Sustainable" a product is the better. You might do some research on this topic.
Have you noticed that most all laundry detergent comes in a "Concentrated" form now. Wal*Mart started that with "All" brand and now they all do it. Target wanted a piece of the action after seeing it in the Wal*Mart stores. They asked the manufacturer to take out most of the water that was in the making of it, so it's now "Concentrated". Thus using "Half the plastic", because now you can get the same amount of washes out of "Two Containers" of it, but it fits into one. And then they can pass that savings onto the consumer. And save on material etc......
You will also soon see cereal boxes will be gone, and they will replace with a plastic re-zip-able bag instead.
It's RED HOT and only becoming more important to all companies.
The Flushaway product is very sustainable, in fact 100%. It breaks down in like 71 days to it's original fiber form.
"After years of research FlushawayTM has perfected and patented the technology for replacing the plastic films used in napkins and liners, with its
own B-9b film. This revolutionary film, enhanced by nanotechnology, has all the properties of regular plastic for the purpose of containing menstrual fluids
yet it begins to break down as soon as it comes in contact with the water in the toilet bowl. The swirling action and agitation in the bowl helps break down
the napkin so that it is totally flushable. The rest of the material used in the napkins breaks apart while flowing through the pipes and biodegrades in
71 days; 66% faster than the ASTM D5988-03 International standard requires."
