@HailMary - Update
"
This would really be a killer part. I wonder when we'll see it? I would guess mid 05.
"

My guess is, that this will "only" depend on what Intel
is capable to do in the next time. Means, that I'm not
worried much about the coming Nocona Launch and what comes
after that? You could be right - the next big thing (what-
ever that should be) could arrive around Mid-2005, a year
after Nocona was launched. Would be a good time for AMD to
step in with an healthy 90nm process ...

@Comb
Heh - you could at least press a smile out of your face with
2nd or 3rd official confirmation .... ;-)

" Looks like AMD planned for dual core in k8 all along..."

Yes, we've known this for a year or more. At one of the conferences, an AMD official announced that they have had dual core hooks in the K8 design from early on. Now the planned implementation would have a complete, second core with it's own L1 and L2 caches. A nice aspect is that it's supposed to be a drop in for current chips, probably Socket 940. I suspect that the chips marked Italy, Egypt and Denmark could be the dual core ones, the timeframe is about right.

HailMary,

Looks like AMD planned for dual core in k8 all along...

Yes. It was shown in the original Hammer presentation at Microprocessor Forum, in 2001 I believe.
