Yes, we've known this for a year or more. At one of the conferences, an AMD official announced that they have had dual core hooks in the K8 design from early on. Now the planned implementation would have a complete, second core with it's own L1 and L2 caches. A nice aspect is that it's supposed to be a drop in for current chips, probably Socket 940. I suspect that the chips marked Italy, Egypt and Denmark could be the dual core ones, the timeframe is about right.
