Seriously, pretty good spin by EPIC. Of course, they dodged the impact of ethanol on food (and other item) price inflation.

Filling the 25-gallon tank of an SUV with pure ethanol requires over 450 pounds of corn -- which contains enough calories to feed one person for a year.

At face value, with a bushel of corn weighing 56lb, those numbers are about right- as it takes point .36 bushel corn to make a gallon of ethanol.

But, have you ever tried eating the corn used in ethanol, lol. It is feed corn- not fit for human consumption. btw, 1/3 of the corn used goes to the feed lots as a by-product, so those numbers are skewered some, imo. If farmers let their animals eat naturally, and wait 6-12 months before slaughter, they would not need the tremendous amount of corn being used today, imo. The industry could probably get by on the ethanol by-products.
