BTW, I have heard around the net that AMD threatened Cray if they "even tried to talk to Intel". Sounds serious, if true ;)

I'm hearing the same thing. Of course it's true. They had an exclusive agreement. You know what that means. I say Kudos to Cray for having the courage to face AMD's wrath.
