I didn't read the article but the followup discussion lead me to believe that the author didn't know what they were saying. From what I had read, they were going to jettison their ambitious file structure design which would have been revolutionary. I don't think that the very essence of a trusted OS is being jettisoned. I think some delay with a certainty of delivery works well for wave.

I believe we have to slowly rethink our approach to the security space.

The common denominator across the different platforms is Trusted Computing.

Longhorn is an OS that enables full fledged TC in the PC space. And whatever the PC does must be interoperable with other platforms and Operating Systems i.e. cell phones, PDA's and Set-Top boxes...

Longhorn may or may not die (although I don't buy that notion!), but, importantly, Trusted Computing is here to stay!
