#162394 RE: Countryboy #162383

Countryboy, no question about it!

Now a current government SafeNet ProtectDrive customer can bring encrypting drives into their environment and manage both with ERAS and of course TPMs as well.

And a prospective government customer (with no existing FDE) can do the same.

The SafeNet reseller deal is the best possible strategy for Wave to have implemented. It's also more difficult now for SafeBoot and all the other software FDE vendors who aspire to manage FDE drives to compete with the Wave/SafeNet solution, because they lack Wave's TPM life cycle management capabilities. Even if one puts the TPM management issue aside and considers FDE only, the Wave/SafeNet solution is tough to match owing to Wave's big lead in the hardware FDE management arena...this is because Wave already has compatibility with most if not all PC OEM BIOSs as well as a leg up in working with the other drive vendors.

Wave is also bundled by Dell on FDE drives...SafeNet likes that!

Countryboy, alternatively, maybe a customer of Safenet's encouraged them to partner with Wave. Could other s/w FDE vendors follow?

Go to Helpfulbacteria's post #162208 from last weekend about George Mason University's new specifications to require adoption of Seagate FDE, presumably because of all their work with DOD. I believe we're starting to see some positive traction with the government.
