How does negative news not help investors? In fact, all news helps investors. If there is negative news, I want to know about it to help me to decide whether to reduce or eliminate my position. Investing with blinders on as to bad news is a dangerous, dangerous game.
I don't have any problems with people with legitimate negative views, in fact I welcome them. I will have a problem when I feel their negative facts outweight the positives, as then it will be the time for "me" to sell.
The board doesn't need blind longs that refuse to acknowledge facts about their investment and don't want others to hear those facts either. That is a disservice to the board and underestimates its intelligence.
Cheerleading makes a person appear as if they refuse to acknowledge the negatives and therefore are not in touch with the realities of investing and aren't taken seriously.
