BUCUTI IS OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED ‘GREEN GLOBE 21’ FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

http://agents.aruba.com/news/wmview.php?ArtID=54

The Bucuti Beach Resort ‘Green Team’ proudly announced today, that the Bucuti Beach Resort has been officially certified ‘Green Globe 21’ for the second consecutive year.

The Green Globe 21 is an organization, which specializes in developing environmental management and awareness for the Travel & Tourism industry and provides practical means through which companies can improve their environmental performance.

Green Globe 21 is now a collective body of almost 1000 companies in over 100 countries. Membership of Green Globe 21 involves serious commitment and is not an easy option for those merely wanting to acquire a 'green label'. Green Globe 21 should be regarded as a 'keep-fit' program, which assists member companies’ progress towards their environmental targets, regardless of the level of their activities to date.

Green Globe began as discussion at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio, Brazil. Among the many key issues identified was the pressing need for the Travel & Tourism Industry, including destinations and resorts, to develop in sustainable ways: Ways that make use of our environment without damaging it and ways that allow all local people to benefit from tourism without destroying their culture. In other words, Sustainable Tourism.

Green Globe came into being in 1994 in response to that need and has been recognized by the industry and governments as the only global environment program for travel companies and destinations.

The program defines a global standard for environmental performance and is based on a combination of The Earth Summit’s “Agenda 21 for Travel & Tourism issues” and ISO type procedures. It is accompanied by application guides tailored for local conditions.

By gaining the prestigious Green Globe 21 Certificate, companies and communities can demonstrate that they are addressing the issues of environmental, social and cultural responsibility and at the same time ensure reduced costs, increased employee commitment and positive local interest.
