Doug, I think that's quite a stretch. Yes, it generally beats Intel's current offerings, but not by that much. They'd better resist the urge to overrate their CPUs, or it'll come back to bite them one way or another. Besides, there is no need to exaggerate!

I agree. What's funny is that all of us (Pro-Intel and Pro-AMD) here and at SI have been saying for the last 2 years or so that the P3 derived chips are better chips than the netburst chips. What those chips needed, was some modernizing by way of higher FSB to shine.

The other argument I heard is that the P3 architecture is better understood by a larger group of people than the P4 architecture.

Anyway, AND should stick with their rating scheme because it works and consumers are used to it. Let Intel try to confuse their customers. Another reason AMD should stick with it is that Intel may return to the high Ghz marketing in the future.
