wmbz, the FX-53 on socket 940 would rate at about 3900+/4000+, and on socket 939 will probably perform around 4100+. In another couple weeks, we'll have the A64 3700+ on socket 754, and in late May, the 3800+ on socket 939. Note that all of these parts clock at 2.4 GHz, the differences being cache size, single/dual memory channels, and registered/unbuffered memory. So AMD is basically there already, at the 4GHz performance level, with 130nm.

Yes, I doubt Intel would give up GHz Marketing if they expected any high GHz parts in the near future. I think it signals the end of NetBurst, and as rapidly as they can manage, a shift to Pentium M -based parts.
