In all fairness, at normal viewing distances, I'm not worried about the lack of 1080 output. Given the bandwidth constraints it's even likely the relatively milder compression that 720 allows will result in a better overall picture.

Getting movies from the torrent often sucks for anything other than recent, high profile releases. I've no objection at all to the rental pricing structure - once they deem Canada "access worthy".

Ok, so it seems the HD versions of the movies will stream at ~5Mbps. That isn't anywhere near enough to do decent 1080, so sticking with 720p is the "right" decision given long term bandwidth constraints. Assuming they do a decent job on the encoding side, achieving DVD quality at DVD++ resolution should be a lock.
