DWS: I caught your comments, while reviewing the latest posts. Y'all think I have transformed...but I have been long ever since 1996, and I cannot say I am sorry for the investment.
In general, months and weeks ago, I was getting impatient with the lack of news and lack of licensees. But, it became more and more obvious what was happening.
NOK is a huge roadblock. Licensees are stalling in order to see what is going to happen with NOK. They know IDCC is over a barrel and the big guys and medium guys are looking for rate concessions, in order to do a deal now.
Well, IDCC is not going for the "kiss ass" to get a deal done. I think they are willing to put up with the pain until NOK is settled hopefully, on or close to IDCC terms.
I am sure, they have been led around by some of these big companies, like what was mentioned today, about the deal was almost signed, but at the last moment the company wanted additional incentives. IT TAKES SOME BIG STONES TO WALK AWAY FROM THAT TABLE, WHEN A KNOWN COMPANY SAYS THEY WILL SIGN(PEN IS HAND)IF YOU JUST DO THIS LAST THING FOR US (in Dec. 2003)
Big companies, do that all the time, to see if IDCC (and other small companies) will sell their soul, just for the pleasure of doing business with them. It is nasty, manipulative crap, but they have to try it, because it will potentially save a company millions of dollars.
It is a battle, and mgmt is trying to stay positive and get it all done. But it has got to be tough. Especially to have to be on that CC today.
In any case, IDCC stock can shoot up 20 points, if they sign a deal tomorrow with NOK. But, at what price?? The deal could have been done months ago, NOK offered, so why didn't IDCC go for the deal. Because, the deal sucked for IDCC long term. Got to give IDCC mgmt credit for holding out and trying to do it right. I wish they had more ammo though, to make all the MOFOs pay for yanking IDCCs chain. Just a little retribution(payback) would be cool.
The above is just my speculation.
