Off the top of my head, I would guess that PCIe isn't a point-to-point architecture, and thus not amenable to what the system architects were trying to achieve.

How can a Highspeed Differential Pair be anything other than point to point?

Quickpath is a high performance and complex technology which will be scalable to even greater performance in the future.So I expected to see Quickpath even on clients as shown in this leaked Japanese presentation (third row of Nehalem products).

Thus on the more recent roadmap,I was thus surprised to see PCIe and not Quickpath on Lynfield and Havendale products, and that prompted my series of questions.I concur that PCIe on the first generation of Nehalem clients is a better choice than Quickpath,particularly since it will be tricky to get third parties to implement Quickpath links on their products in the required timeframe.
