It's highly variable. In San Diego(where I live), it's frequently hitting 180-200 kbps download speeds

I agree with this. In my home, I get very good EDGE service and the download times are probably comparable to dialup (speeds are faster but latency is higher). That makes it usable though sometimes painful.

Elsewhere in Chicago, it is a different story. I am a sports fanatic, and constantly use it to update scores....which can work ok as long as I am going to a mainly text page. God forbid if I try and load a page like Yahoo Sports or ESPN. SD must have a very underused network to get such great coverate across the entire area. JMO, but the overall reviews and posts on places like HowardForums seems to indicate that my experience is more prevalent than yours.

I'm curious though....how long does it take you to fully load ESPN.com or sports.yahoo.com over EDGE?
