Slacker - re: EDGE experience -

It's highly variable. In San Diego(where I live), it's frequently hitting 180-200 kbps download speeds, and combined with the software integration Apple's done for the iPhone, the total end-user web-browsing experience is essentially as snappy as using a Verizon EVDO card on a MacBook(even though the EVDO may peak @6-700 kbps - it really is largely about the software). After a one month trial of side-by-side comparison all around the city, I gave up my Verizon Broadband service for the laptop and am more than happy just using the iPhone over EDGE.

Not all areas of the country are the same, however. My EDGE experience in some areas of the Northeast U.S. was much less satisfactory.

But to say that the EDGE web-browsing experience is uniformly bad is just plain wrong.
