Makes it sound like you have to have a suspect first to determine his/her ancestry.
It would be better if it read something like, "determine ancestral characteristics from an anonymous DNA sample"<<

Do you notice the confused syntax in both cases? Would not a forensic scientist simply describe determination of racial profile of a suspect rather than "what ancestry your suspect is?"
There is an obvious attempt to work around a sensitive subject IMO.
