Processors and their systems are interesting enough to be worth understanding and appreciating in their own right don't you think ?

I suppose if your only interest is academic, a reasonable case can be made for a Barcelona slide show. Unfortunately Barcelona is a commercial product and it's survival is governed by a different set of standards. It must be commercially viable, performance competitive, manufacturable, profitable and supported by a roadmap customers can believe and have confidence in. None of those qualities seem significant for those such as yourself or you'd be singing a different tune.

I think they are and that is why there are boards set up to discuss 'pure' mpus like RWT. This is a financial board where 99.99% of posters have a finacial interest in intel and amd at times.

if you are a purist then you should not be hanging out here.

Re: Intellectual gratification on studying the products and their knock on effect on the companies that produce them. It's kind of a purist motive I know not easily understood by those who are primarily financially motivated ;-). Processors and their systems are interesting enough to be worth understanding and appreciating in their own right don't you think ?

Sort of like cheerleading for a sports team. You'll deny it, but I know you get some kind of gratification every time AMD "wins" something, whether it be a benchmark, or a supercomputer design win, or simply a PR victory. Otherwise, you wouldn't be posting so jubilantly when AMD is "winning" these minor victories, while losing so dearly on their financials. It's not an enigma. It's just sports frenzy, and the sport is Processor Vendor Wars.

Mas,
<<<...Processors and their systems are interesting enough to be worth understanding and appreciating in their own right don't you think ?>>

Fair enough .....
However, you seem to focus insanely on the virtues (real or imagined); of only ONE company's processors!

You seem to have lost all objectivity, which inevitably leads to a loss of reality in what is really the truth, in terms of technology, and the marketplace.
