Intellectual gratification on studying the products and their knock on effect on the companies that produce them. It's kind of a purist motive I know not easily understood by those who are primarily financially motivated ;-). Processors and their systems are interesting enough to be worth understanding and appreciating in their own right don't you think ?
What makes a person spend so many hours a day obsessed over something when they don't stand to gain or lose anything of value?
Elmer, I've often thought about this too and I've wondered if Mas does alot of his posting while at work. If so, I'm amazed. I'm barely able to read through the board at lunch time let alone respond to any of the posts. If he posts during work, I wonder how much time he actually spends practicing his profession vs posting on this board. Wonder what his boss would think if he/she knew.
