short
sales

They sell shares they don't have. They can't GET them because of the O/S but they don't check, that's the point.

Let's say there are 100 shares out and I own all 100. You can *still* naked short the stock. You sell to Joe B who in turn sells to Marge. Marge has 100 shares over the O/S. All legit.

Until I declare a .01 dividend. ;)
