These may be defective parts BUT THEY ARE REAL NATIVE DEFECTIVE PARTS, not some glue job of defective parts. :))

My opinion is that there will be a good market for these when comparably priced and they should not be criticized too much. They are sort of like a fused chip.

Any revenue AMD receives from these tri's is "found money".

I don't think that's what chipguy meant. Intel can still make Clovertowns and price them competitively at the low end while Penryn takes the highend.

Well I understood what chipguy meant. But what's more profitable for AMD? Bringing half a wafer to the dump and sell quads for a little higher ASP's, or using a lot more (?) from that same wafer by selling Tri-core's (but maybe with the effect that Intel lowers prices on quadcores and AMD Tri & QuadCore prices have to come down too).

AMD to try to take on Intel Core 2 with tri-core Phenom

<<<AMD didn't provide any details of the Phenom series members' speeds and feeds, but it did state that the three-core versions will go on sale in Q1 2008 following the shipment of quad-core parts this year...>>

AMD has a few months to gather and begin selling the ("brokeback Barcelonas") in Q1 2008:
