lastchoice we also don't know if in their prior estimate they made a mistake that they are correcting now. I don't know how likely it is, but it is possible they previously issued guidance of 53.5 - 54.5 when it should have been 50.5 - 51.5. Now they revised guidance and said 55.5 - 56.5 without telling why they increased it. The increase from previous guidance could be for a variety of reasons and the company left it WAYYYYYYY TOOOO vague to draw ANY conclusions IMO. We are driving ourselves crazy trying to figure it and we never will until the company gives more details.

i also spoke with jp earlier. i couldn't find a shred of hope--verifying the fixed-amount over time, ODM carve-outs are typical of OEM contracts, discounts for fixed-fee are also normal, as they are usually irrevocable, etc...

the one interesting point was when she said that idcc had not broken out how much of the increased guidance was from apple. which in my mind, would be worse, as it would be less than $2m per each quarter.

WAIT.

didn't lg have a small first quarter's recognition? yes $11/14M. but theirs was an almost complete quarter--signed on 1/18. apple's was a minute portion of the quarter, 6/29 and 6/30. maybe the $2M is much less from apple, but is only for a couple days???

the one interesting point was when she said that idcc had not broken out how much of the increased guidance was from apple.

But in the PR, they said the $20 million was from a "license" - singular, not plural.

In addition, InterDigital expects to receive a $20 million payment in the near future in connection with a recently signed license agreement. The revenue associated with this new agreement is reflected in this updated guidance.
