Phergy -

Will they have to copy AMD in using on chip memory controller for their microprocessor?

I see you are confused. Intel had a processor, Timna, with both on board memory controller and graphics processor years ago. It was AMD who copied Intel. As for aHT, Intel had USB out years ago as well as Infiniband, SATA out now and will release PCI-Express soon. All are highspeed low voltage differential pair serial channels. One could just as easily claimed AMD copied Intel.

Phergy, who the hell cares?

Look at the comment and the context. Look who said it and when. All your examples take place more than a decade after the comment was made, long after Andy Grove retired from Intel and long after the comment was relevant. If you put $100 in each company in the late 80's, who would have given you a better return? Or to put it another way, would anyone dare say the same about AMD today? Technically, as far as processors go, they are ahead of Intel, and probably a better investment going forward. That sure as hell wasn't the case in the late 80's.

Like the other cheerleaders, you need a reality check. AMD is not a sports team, they are a semiconductor company. I can say that every time, but people never learn.
