I have a contact in EPA region 4 that I have worked with many times. I asked her to check a few things with her contacts at MDEQ and I don't remember exactly when. My best guess on timing is mid June and her reply was basically that the people at MDEQ were "very aware of the situation" and if (can't remember how she put it) anything major developed in the way of a violation, action would be taken.

So my take is that a thin line was being walked but nothing too out of whack.

I don't think they're interested in shutting down a little bean roaster smaller than a decent BBQ.

I don't think they will look the other way if someone flaunts a commercial fuel production facility without permits either.

The name I saw posted (may have been you) as the MDEQ contact is correct.
